Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen made his much-anticipated comeback from injury on Friday night as Galatasaray edged past Alanyaspor in a tight Turkish Super Lig clash.
The Super Eagles forward, who had been sidelined for three matches, came on as an 85th-minute substitute as coach Okan Buruk carefully eased him back into action. The move was strategic, with Galatasaray preparing for a crucial UEFA Champions League encounter against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday.
Osimhen had suffered an ankle injury during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on September 6 in Uyo, a setback that temporarily left a gap in Galatasaray’s attacking lineup.
Despite his absence, the Yellow and Reds showed their depth and resilience. Mauro Icardi delivered the decisive moment of the game, scoring in the 23rd minute to seal a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the GAİN Park Stadyumu.
