Nigerian activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has taken to Instagram to call out the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over his prolonged detention and confiscated devices.
In his post, VDM pleaded with the anti-graft agency to either charge him to court or return his phones, which he said are vital to his work in helping Nigerian youths explore business opportunities.
> “@officialefcc I am begging you to either take me to court or give me my phones. I went to China, I made connections with manufacturers and CEOs of production companies — this cost me time and money. All of this I did in order to help a lot of Nigerian youth explore business opportunities, like importing goods and others. Y’all have my phone and it is restricting me from helping people. GIVE ME MY PHONES OR TAKE ME TO COURT AND TELL NIGERIANS WHAT I DID.”
VDM further revealed that he was allegedly picked up by EFCC operatives on May 2nd but has yet to be formally informed of his offense.
The development has sparked fresh debate online, with many Nigerians urging the EFCC to clarify its position on the matter.
