The Qatari Ministry of Interior has dismissed widespread reports suggesting that new visa restrictions were imposed on Nigerian passport holders.
Speaking to BBC Pidgin on Wednesday, a ministry official clarified that there are no restrictions on Nigerians seeking to visit Qatar.
The clarification comes after social media reports alleged that Qatar had introduced a travel ban preventing male applicants from entering the country unless accompanied by their families.
The viral claims further suggested that only women or families could apply for visas, with alleged additional requirements such as a five-star hotel booking and a return flight ticket before applying for a travel or transit visa.
The Qatari government has now reaffirmed that these claims are false, urging the public to disregard misinformation and rely on official channels for verified travel guidelines.
