Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has expressed frustration over the ongoing insecurity in the state, revealing that security operatives are aware of the exact locations of bandits but are unable to take immediate action without clearance from Abuja.
The governor, speaking emotionally, said:
> “I swear to God, I used to shed tears because we know the exact locations of these bandits. We see them wherever they move in Zamfara, but the soldiers can’t take orders from us; they must wait for orders from Abuja. If I were the one commanding them, we would’ve ended banditry in Zamfara within two months.”
His remarks highlight the challenges of centralized command structures in Nigeria’s fight against banditry and raise questions about the need for state-level autonomy in security operations.
