Nigeria’s national power grid suffered a collapse on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, plunging many areas into darkness.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed the incident in a public notice shared on its official X (Twitter) handle. According to AEDC, the blackout was caused by a loss of supply from the national grid at 11:23 am, affecting electricity distribution across its franchise areas.
The company assured customers that efforts were ongoing to restore supply as soon as possible.
> “Please be informed that the power outage currently being experienced is due to a loss of supply from the national grid at 11:23 am today, affecting electricity supply across our franchise areas,” the notice read.
This marks yet another grid collapse in Nigeria, adding to concerns over the country’s fragile electricity infrastructure.
