Aliko Dangote Regrets Not Buying Arsenal at $2 Billion

Nigeria’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has revealed that one of his biggest regrets is not buying Premier League giant Arsenal Football Club when the opportunity presented itself.

Speaking recently, the billionaire industrialist explained that Arsenal was once valued at around $2 billion, and he had the chance to acquire the London-based club. However, he ultimately chose not to go through with the deal.

Today, Arsenal’s value has soared to more than $4 billion, thanks to its resurgence on and off the pitch. Dangote admitted that while missing out on the investment was a tough decision, it was a necessary one.

“If I had gone ahead with the purchase, I would not have been able to complete the Dangote Refinery project,” he said.

The Dangote Refinery, which officially launched in 2023, is the largest single-train refinery in the world and is expected to transform Nigeria’s energy sector.

While football fans may still dream of seeing an African billionaire take over a top Premier League side, Dangote has made it clear that completing the refinery was his ultimate priority.
