Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has revealed that he recently underwent treatment to remove a type of skin cancer.
The 58-year-old Michelin-starred chef said he was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, a form of non-melanoma skin cancer. Ramsay thanked his “incredible healthcare workers” for their quick and professional care.
In a post shared on Instagram on Saturday, Ramsay uploaded a picture showing the side of his face covered with a plaster just beneath his ear following the procedure.
> “Big thank you to my incredible medical team for their fast, reactive work,” Ramsay wrote in his post.
Basal cell carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer and is usually caused by long-term sun exposure. While rarely life-threatening, early treatment is important to prevent it from spreading.
Fans flooded Ramsay’s post with supportive messages, praising him for raising awareness about skin health.
The Hell’s Kitchen star also used the opportunity to encourage people to take extra precautions, such as wearing sunscreen and attending regular skin checks.
